But, if you end up for some reason having to go through Immigration in Dubai, effective 29 July you will have to pay for the entry visa they used to hand out for free.

Currently the new fee is set at 100 AED ($28 US), and effects people from the following countries:

+ Only nationals from:

Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, UK, US and Vatican City are eligible for visa's on arrival.

+ Previously, free visa for 60 days upon arrival in the UAE will now have to pay Dh100 for a 30-day visa. It is still issued on arrival (no need to apply in advance) and are valid for single entry only

+ People will no longer be able to go to neighbouring countries to renew their visas, and will have to return to their home country or "distant" countries (not specified which countries are "distant" yet)

Even though people like me that only fly in to Dubai to fly back out again, will have to pay (as we have to clear through Terminal 2 and make our way to Terminal 1, or visa-versa. Can't check in or "transit" from 2 to 1 or back, as there are no check-in counters connected to the major airlines (or, if you are in Terminal 1, none to check-in to the regional/charter airlines flying out of Termianl 2).

My company has already said they will pay for our visas, so I'm not going to lose any money. :o
