As mentioned IrfanView is a good choice. Another one is Faststone Image Viewer. When viewing the image you move the cursor to the bottom of the screen and an options panel will scroll up. In it is "email image" function that lets you resize and e-mail in one go.

I'm assuming that you are running a MicroSoft operating system on your PC.... If so they all have 'Paint' (application) installed. Use 'Paint' to open your photo and then go to 'Image' - 'Resize/Skew' on the menu.... then you will have a menu window open. There you will see that the 'Horizontial' and 'Vertical' resize settings are at 100%.... Just change it to something like 50% on both.. Then save it.. Now you have the same photo only a smaller size.

NOTE: Make sure you adjust both Horz and Vert settings to the same percentage to keep the photo original. Also I tend to save the photo called something like 'xxxxx_resized.jpg', that way I can always revert back to the larger (higher resolution) one if I ever want to.. (That is I don't overwrite over the original when I resize.)

There are many other ways to resize a photo but this is easy to do and most run MS OS so 'Paint' is available...

"Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP----Image Resizer

This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files. When resizing you can choose from one of four standard sizes or choose a size that you specify. You can also choose to resize the original image or create a new one. Right click any image(s) and select 'Resize Pictures' in the context menu."

As much as I hate Microsoft, I must say this is pretty good, can resize all the images in a folder with a right click and it auto renames the resized image. You can download it at the MS web site free.

I highly recommend Google Picasa for everything to do with photos. It does all and does it well. The price is free. For email you just click the tab.

Outlook will do it for you.

Just right click on the pic in Explorer and select "Send to" .... Mail Attachment.

Outlook opens and asks if you'd like to reduce size for email.

Click and then email to yourself.

The pics will all be less than 50K in size.
