Any idea why some Asian men (generally older ones) have long outgrowths of hair from moles on their faces? Is it to look learned and wise, and if so, can it possibly be worth it at the expense of presumably becoming much less desirable to the ladies. Or do ladies from these parts have a thing for hairy moles that i don't know about?!

And any idea why some Asian boys (generally very young kids) have their hair trimmed short save for a long tail of hair from the back of their heads - where i come from known as a rat's tail. Judging from the age of the kids, it seems like something the parents have decided upon. I can't help wondering why.

Answers on a postcard please...

Hair on mole is considered lucky. Forget the origin. A sensible superstition , perhaps, as it's unwise to interfere with moles.

Shaven head with "rat tail" is a Buddhist practice. Forget the details :o .
