I'm a California citizen looking to spend about 9 months in Thailand.

I was hoping to get a multiple-enty tourist visa.

The L.A. consulate web site states the cost per entry fee and in parenthesis, says no multiple entry.

I wondered if anyone has gotten a multiple entry recently while in the U.S.?

Thanks.

The information on the consulate's website is correct: there is no multiple-entry tourist visa, ie tourist visa valid for an unlimited number of entries. You specify the number of entries you need, ie 2, 3, 4, etc. Check out also the validity period offered. Some consulates make a double-entry visa valid only for two days, others make a tourist visa for 2 or more entries valid for 6 months. Each entry gives you permission to stay for 60 days and if you wish you can after each entry apply in Thailand for a 30-day extension of stay.

Hi!! Great info by the way!

What do you mean by "double entry visa valid only for two days"? that if you leave Thailand with a double entry tourist visa, you have to return in two days?

Sorry! I'm new to this! --I posted something earlier regarding my situation. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should apply for an extended (60 day) visa before I leave or should just get the normal 30 day tourist visa. I will arrive in Bangkok early December, will travel for 2 - 3 weeks, probably go to Laos for a few days then re-enter Thailand for 30+ days. I have heard that if I get the 60 day visa, once I leave it becomes void and a new 30 day visa is issued.

Are you saying that i CAN apply for a 60 day tourist visa that allows for a certain number of entries?

pardon all the questions!

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!

You can apply for a 2 or possibly 3 entry tourist visa. Each entry is for a maximum stay of 60 days.

However if you exit Thailand before the 60 days are up that entry is finished and you lose the remaining days.

You then re enter using your next entry.

Also each 60 days stay can be extended at immigration for another 30 days.

You probably will not be allowed on the plane from USA without a visa.

I made a mistake there. It should read “double-entry visa valid only for 3 months”
