Esl Materials For The Tourism Sector

Featured Replies

HI all,

As part of my job I must provide some English training to the staff at a hotel. Their levels range from very low to low intermediate.

The 2 departments I must work with are the Front Desk and Food and Beverage (waiters).

Can someone recommend a book/publisher that is easily available in Thailand or a good site with specific training materials. I found some online but they were way to basic.

Most of the staff have worked in the tourism industry for some years already..

The Books in Phuket town has quite a large selection of ESL materials. I noticed when I was in there last week that they had various types (ie, business English, etc) of resources for the teaching of English. Take a look there.

Hi Goldenbead,

I did have a quick look but there was not to much catering to Tourism. I think I saw 1 book.

Thanks..

Log onto Kinokuniya dot com. They are based in BKK, and have shops at Paragon, Central World, and one other location, but i forget where. They are a huge bookstore and have a wide range of ESL materials. I use them all the time, and they ship right to your door.
