Looking at putting some treatments into my fish pond of approx 5000 litres, all the labels on the bottles that I can read say XXX amount per ton of water - how many litres are in a ton of water?

As a rough guide work on 1 litre of water weighing 1 kilgram.

1 metric tonne = 1,000 litres

1 ton = 1,016 litres.

The guys have covered it but be a little carefull regarding the term "ton" because there are three of them.

Tonne : sometimes referred to as the metric ton = 1000kg (= 2204lb).

Ton (Long) : UK imperial system = 2240lb = 1016kg.

Ton (Short) : US customary system = 2000lb = 907kg.

For your purposes it probably doesn't make any difference but if the chemicals are from the USA, or an American compant manufacturing in Thailand, you could be 10% out on your dosage. But, worst case scenario, you'll be 10% light if you base the dosage on your 5000 liters = 5 Tonne.
