Urgent: Any Problems Leaving The Country If Wp Not Cancelled?

I'm in need of URGENT advice.

Today I finished work.

Monday morning I was going to cancel my WP, go to the local immigration and apply/or see if it was possible to apply for a change of visa status to a student as advised through this forum. Unfortunately my employers (the administration) has decided they are busy on Monday and will not give me access to the WP (I left on good terms). They said they will cancel my work permit for me. Strangely enough I don't trust that this will be done!

Qu: 1. If I go to Laos and apply for a new visa will there be any repercussions as my WP is not cancelled.

Qu: 2. Can I cancel my own WP?

I will be leaving to Laos Monday night.

Hello I do not see why that should be a problem as you do not apply for a visa in relation with the WP.

Just apply for the Student's visa

On the other hand if you have any doubt about the cancellation of your WP (I do not believe that immigration has anything to do with the WP: they are two separate bodies) you can cancel it yourself

In any case if you 'd like more information and if you live in Bkk (which I doubt considering the content of your message) you could go to the immigration at Suanplu which is open on Saturdays

By Monday, you will probably be on overstay. Get the letter from your company, go to the immigration office, apply for the 7-day extension and pay your overstay fine.

Its not a problem at all, You dont get a re-entry visa so your

'B' Visa is cancelled as soon as you walk through imirgration.

You can walk back in the next day on a 30 day VOA if you want.

I came back with a 12 month None Img 'O' visa from Hull the same

month. Ive done that three times in the past 13 years.

They will cancel your work permit, or they will have to pay the taxes, its simple.

its not your problem if the work permit is not canceled, they will have to pay for it so dont worry about that. come back in on a new visa. once your work permit is canceled you will have 7 days to leave.

You do not have 7 days to leave unless you apply for and obtain a 7 day extension of stay. If you are here on an extension of stay it ends on loss of employment. And believe you will be fined if your work permit is not canceled and you apply for a new one.
