l'm 45, my beard is greying, the stubble is very thick & coarse, l bleed alot when l shave & generaly get fed up with trying to constantly have a smooth clean face. Have also found it is growing much quicker now than when l was a teenager, & so have to shave much more, bloody pain in the ass (face). l know it's just part of being a guy & all. So, l'm thinkin, what about all these katoys about, they don't have facial hair, how do they do it? So, has anyone ever gone to one of those clinics the katoys go to & had all there facial hair removed? How is it done? Do they do the whole face in 1 go or in stages? ls it painful? How long does it last? Does it grow back? Does the process have to be repeated, how often etc? How much does it cost? Can anyone recommend a good clinic? Appreciate all your knowledgable advice!

Go visit the skin care department of any decent hospital and check out laser removal of unwanted hair, a completely painless process that takes up to three visits to permanently destroy the roots of the hair folicles that cause male facial hair.

1) they are asian therefore less facial hair

2) they take hormone pills(oestrogen) so dont develop facial hair

3) any residual facial hair may be waxed or electrolysis treated

google "beard electrolysis pictures"

Is laser removal for facial hair significantly different than for removal of other body hair? If not, I would NOT consider it "painless" in any degree. I endured six months of laser on my back (and the hair still returned) and there was definitely some pain, and a female friend who had her legs and bikini area done and she said it was VERY painful. In my case, it seemed that the coarser the particular hair, the more it hurt. My friend said her bikini area was more painful than her lower legs. I would think a beard, which is VERY coarse, would be VERY painful.

I asked about having any anaesthetic cream applied prior to treatment, and I forget the reason, but they said they could not.

Yeah, I have to agree that laser hair rewmoval is not painless. It is however endurable, and effective, although 5 treatments is more likely than just 3. Also the treatments have to be 2 months apart so it is almost a year long undertaking, although you will see a decrease in the amount of hair with each treatment.the reason for the multiple treatments is that hairs grow in 2 month cycles and each treatment gets only those hairs which are present at that time. Even after 5 treatments you may have some hairs left but they will be few.

If you only want a reduction in hair rather than no hair, then 3 treatments might do it.

There are numbing anesthetic creams that can be used (Emla) but they have some potentially toxic effects so their use has fallen out of favor.

Electrolysis is also an option but I don't think it is any less painful or time consuming,. may even be more.

Far be it for me to dispute someone with Sheryl's knowledge on health care but I had always understood laser treatment for hair removal to be a painless process. My understanding is that low intensity laser light is used to kill the root of the hair follicle hence I wonder if we are all talking about the same type of technology and process? There again, the simpler answer might just be that I'm wrong but either way I would like to understand.

I had a beard for over 15 years and once i started shaving again i had problems with bleeding. I once tried a hair removal cream, it was a major mistake. Although the hair came out my skin burned and cracked. It was painful for days. I just kept trying different razors until i found the right one. The best i have found is the Gillette Fusion. It has 5 blades in each head and last for ages, (according to the blurb each one lasts up to 3 months). You can't buy them in Thailand, (i think), and where you can get them they are really expensive, £18 for 4 blades! But for me it's worth it.

Nope, same technology. But it does hurt. (Personal experience here!!!)

How much seems to vary both with the individual and the location. I had it done on my legs and it was pretty painful....altho I managed to ensure it for the 5 full rounds and it was well worth it in the long run for the convenience o, no more shaving or depilitoiries etc.

Beard area would at least be quicker, doing both legs was a 1 hour event each time.

I've heard there are some newer lasers that hurt less, not sure what they are called or if available here, but these also are not totally painless.

I have had..I cant even count how many laser hair removals treatments on my face and while it has made a change temporarily it has never completely gone forever, plus I am a woman so I can imagine it would be harder for a male. The best least painful kind of laser hair removal that I have had or heard of(and experienced) is called PPX. However I had these treatments in Korea and could not find a PPX laser in Thailand.
