Gps Unit

Featured Replies

I have a MU7 with a nice sound system from Kenwood, touch screen etc. A 20.000 bath optional is a GPS unit.

My question is: Is it really useful or only a stupid gadget??

I go 2/3 times a year in BKK and for me is very difficult to find the road. A GPS unit can help me?

Any suggestion/experience?

I wouldn't be without one. I have been totally and completely lost in Bangkok before I had a GPS. I would go with a dash or windshield mounted unit rather than the in dash. The Garmin Nuvi models are great. Easy to use and you can take them out of the mount with the push of a button and put the unit in your pocket. Everyone I have talked to with an in dash unit has had problems with map updates. I have not tried any other units except the Garmins so can't tell you about them. I do know that some maps are useless. The ESRI map is the best I have seen.

I'm quite familiar with the streets of BKK, but still I'm addicted to my Garmin Nuvi 200W. When u need a gas-station, ATM, Starbucks or whatever, it finds it for you!
