When I ask for a retirement visa, I need 800.000 permanent on the bank with little interest. This is there as long I stay in Thailand

Better to pay one million baht to Mr. Thaksin and get such a nice card with all the benefits such as 5 year visa, transport to airport etc etc

These 800.000 I loose anyway, so the best option is to buy The CARD

No, I don't agree! You can spend all of the 800,000 (or none of it, or any amount in between) as long as you get the balance back up to 800,000 (from outside Thailand) each time you apply for a yearly extension to your 'stay'.

Many months ago I asked for more information about the 'infamous' CARD...

No reply whatsoever.

Maybe they were to busy with collecting money and sending Cards?

What makes you think you're going to lose the 800k, wimsikkes? That's there for your annual expenditure...you don't sign it over to the government or put it in anyone else's name unless you want to and can spend what you like for your lifestyle and just top it up to the required amount when reapplying for the next extension, as RDN points out.

Go for the card if that's what you want but 1 million baht against the cost of 5 yearly extensions could be a bit of a loss, I reckon, unless you're loaded to the hilt and ain't bothered. Still have to do the address reporting etc with the card, so I believe. Can't see the next guy honouring Toxin's idea once he's been ousted, so basically you'll be spending 990,000 on a taxi to the airport...what a deal
