midas
A number of people on this forum must have moved apartment at some stage in the past .....? So I just wondered if anyone could recommend a company or individual with a pick up or van with driver to move just a few boxes from Sukhumvit Road area to Sathorn Road area - a very short distance ? The big removalist companies have been quite snooty about it and virtually said they're not really interested in local moves-only international ! One or two of them simply provided outrageous quotations in a more diplomatic effort to turn down my request for their services. So I thought stuff them ! There is no furniture involved - just packed up boxes ready to go ?

Gazza
Try a tuk-tuk. I've seen MC's strapped to the back of them. Boxes should be no problem.
jackr
Yeah, just use a tuk tuk, Midas, if the boxes are already packed-up. Failing that, why don't you hire a 'Budget' pick-up for the day? They should deliver and it's only about 1,200 baht.
midas
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. In the end someone else suggested i contact a hotel near to where i will be moving and ask them if they have a vehicle and driver - which i did and the concierge was more than happy to help ( i know he will get a small cut - but who cares ? ) - as it is - it has turned out much cheaper than a removalist company
NedKelly
A songthaew is great for this sort of thing. You can just approach some guy outside a shop as they usually will be doing paid deliveries for the shop. The tuk tuk option is ok......I did a fridge from Chinatown to Nonthaburi one day ......it was hanging off the back drop tray......what a laugh it was...people were waving at me the whole way. That cost 300 baht and he earned every bit of it.
midas
I forgot about those ! Are " Songthaew`s " those red coloured pick up trucks which serve as small mini - buses like they have in Pattaya ?
