Post Natal / Post Partum Depression

Featured Replies

I have a daughter 1.5 years old.

My wife - in a not very loving marriage - is going to have a new child next year. It has been very difficult with the first child - all kind of worries about health, accidents, schooling, finances, future etc.

But as it is now I seem to go into a Pre Natal Depression: Just as our first child seems to be healthy, happy and strong (but I am still worried about everything) - I sometimes cry my T-shirt wet worrying about how many more problems am I going to face when we have two ...

Any others there - or do you just 'Happy go lucky' and dump the child with it's mother if things get to heavy (a few of my friends has done this both in Farangland and here)?

Philo, It is well accepted that men suffer from this too & needs treatment like any for of PND. I can't offer any advice on what to do as I thankfully missed out on it after having my son, but I have just googled male post natel depression & got the following sites that may be of help to you.

Is there an option to find a councillor locally to talk with? or a sympathetic family member from home who may be more approachable.

I really hope you get the help & support you need.

Thanks for a nice answer and the links, Boo.

I am surprised that few men share their problems here - but as I read from other threads some of them are already beyond trying to live in a relationship in Thailand - and then have more than enough to get their child/children out of Thailand and back home.

This was my plan too(with the first child), but now it seems I have to wait a year or more and leave with two children.

A consolation, though, is that my daughter will have a sister or a brother ...

Depression is depression what ever the circumstances. I've been there. Seek expert advice. Don't rely on Forum quacks.
