Some of you may have seen this new apartment complex next to Lotus: boonjumnong.com

Boonjumnong or Boonjumong Apartments. Look quite nice and comfortable. They are askign 14,000 to 18,000 for a 35 sq. meter studio. A little pricy, but it's a good location.

Anyway, I stayed with my friend there for a few nigths last week. I was considering moving there myself. My verdict? Unless you enjoy driving bass through your room until 2:30am every night, then stay away.

The Peak is typical hole in the wall club opposite Lotus. It's ceiling is quarter inch plastic and aluminum. They pump music out so loud that if I stood on my friend's balcony, I fely like I was in the pub. Lying in bed, I was longing for the zoning laws of the UK.

All around this area are houses and apartments. It seems the Peak simply doesn't care. I'm sure the Peak is run by some mafia/police. It's a real shame as I would have gladly moved in if it wasn't for this.

I asked my friend if she had complained and she and others had. But in typical Thai fashion, the management just says "krup, krup" and nothing happens. Anyway, if you're looking for a quiet place you can sleep before 3am, then stay far away from Boon Jumnong Apartment.

From Samui express:

BOONJUMNONG Modern Apartment is a new icon in modern living launched by a Koh Samui local who wants to further test the waters in the island’s high-end property market. “Boonjumnong” is derived from the name of the owner Mr. Jumnong and the prefix boon, meaning “merit” or “blessing in Thai.

Khun Threerayuth, the nephew of the owner, said that the inspiration to engage in the property business in the highly competitive market of Koh Samui arises from a desire to show that Samui locals :D like them can succeed :o in doing projects that provide the most modern accommodation.

According to Threerayuth the development of the project was more focused on the amenities as the total cost had been cut down by half since the developer, being a local landowner, didn’t have to allot money for land acquisition.

Boonjumnong Modern Apartment is also advantaged by a convenient location on the ring road in Chaweng, close to the Tesco Lotus superstore and other conveniences. “One thing that sets us apart from many of our competitors is our location. We have a good location which is perfect for living—close to supermarkets and cinemas, and easy to find and not too far from the beach,” Threerayuth said.

Threerayuth said Boonjumnong is a modern serviced apartment with all kinds of facilities one looks for in everyday living. He said the serviced-apartment business that caters to the high-end niche is quite new on Koh Samui. The apartment, he continued, offers a new option for those looking for short- or long-term accommodation. Its modern amenities include a swimming pool, Wifi Internet, laundry service, minimart, fitness gym, restaurant, big parking space and CCTV.

Customers can choose to stay on a daily, monthly or yearly basis. Office space is also available for rent. There are a total of 72 rooms broken down as follows: 24 one-bedroom units, 48 studio-type units and 18 office units.

The daily rate for the studio room ranges from Bt1,000 to Bt1,500 and the one- bedroom unit from Bt1,500 to Bt2,000, depending on the sea- son. Monthly rate for studio is Bt10,500–Bt18,000, and Bt25,000 for the one bed-room unit.

With earth tone as the color motif, all rooms are fully furnished with built-in furniture sets. In-room facilities include flat-screen TV, air conditioner, refrigerator, water heater, sofa bed, and beddings. The target customers are both Thais and foreigners as the room rates are relatively cheap, considering the many conveniences the apartment provides.

“We would like to think that we are breaking the ground for a higher level of serviced-apartment living on Koh Samui. There are many accommodations on Koh Samui of the resort, hotel, bungalow and regular-apartment types, but there is only a small number of serviced apartments here,” Threerayuth said.

Despite the political turmoil the country is experiencing, Threerayuth said they plan to expand their property business to serve the growing market. He believes that the property sector will be able to ride out the current political storm since Thailand, particularly Samui, remains attractive to foreigners looking to invest in second or third homes outside of their home countries and future projects, Threerayuth said they can guarantee to provide customers convenient, comfortable, clean and safe living.

I still don't get the point why people would like to live in an appartement a.k.a as an "animal box" instead of renting a big house for half of the price...

As soon as I read " From the Samui express " I stopped reading. Anything, sorry everything in it is based on" advertise and well print a story ". Like the So called resteraunt reviews. You ever read 1 that said anything like " the food was expensive and mediocre at best " ? No me neither. It seems every eaterie here on Samui is 5 star like the devepments.

I wanted to show up, how "beautiful" they can describe a totally bad location for these investment.

There is no need for me to rent in there 1 night, to realize that it is not what they promise.

Driving just by is enough.

Actually the apartments are nice inside.

Nothing wrong with the rooms, I have been there and seen them.

They have very nice western furniture but are a little too small for a family to stay in.

They are furnished a little bit like "Legacy suites" in Bangkok.

The kitchen is "empty" and you need to buy plates, spoons, forks, microwave and whatever you need to it.

It has a big fridge though.

There is supposed to be a gym also that is included in the price but it wasn't finished yet when I was there.

Too bad that the disco is so close so that you can't sleep at night.

I think it is easier to say something if you actually have been there and seen the rooms instead of just looking at an advertising picture or listening to rumors.

We all know that hotels don't look the same on the internet or in the newspaper as they do in real life.

So if you havn't been there, I think it is unfair to be so judgemental.

It is almost like when people think they KNOW actors just by watching their movies, read articles or seen interviews with them on tv.

How silly isn't that?

May I also ask where you can rent a house that is so new and fresh with the same standard with shared pool and gym included for HALF that price???

Would be interesting to know.

Honestly - if someone walked around the place with a list, to sign, telling that the place is nice but a minor sum should be put on sound insulation otherwise they move out - maybe the owners would get the point? Maybe they have not spent a night there, maybe they just do not know???

I must really like to torture myself as I gave up my old apartment and while looking for a new apartment, came to stay with my friend again at BOOM! Jumnong. Great timing too it is. It is now midnight. The owner of these apartments also owns the land across the road. And guess what he has done with it? He's rented it out to the local carnival for 13 consecutive nights. And guess how loud the non-stop bass and singing is on their stage? Reverberates through your body loud. Impossible to sleep loud. Torture terrorists at Guantanomo Bay loud. And guess what time they finish up? Nice and early at 2am.

Funny thing is, they were just here a month ago. At that time, BOOM! Jumnong management advised not to worry because it only happens once every 5 months. Yeah right.

I asked them this time if they felt sorry for their tenants. They just looked at me perplexed and said they have no problem sleeping. I asked them if this would go on month after month. (There were three people in the office). They all chimed in. One said 3 times a year. One said once every 2 months. One said every month. Seriosuly, I have been in Thailand 7 years and I am used to the idosyncrasies, but come on, what the f#ck? The owner knows exatly when he has rented his land to these people. This just seems like a total lack of respect for the tenants.

I am actually quite a reasonable person, but honestly this is beyond comprehension to me. There are many houses and apartments right here. Fri, Sat, okay maybe. But 13 consecutive nigths when people have to get up and work? What the F#CK? How can they really just say mai pen rai? Anyway, I'll stay tonight and it's off to a hotel tomorrow. My friend, who would have stayed indfinitley is packing up and moving. It is a shame, because although small, the apartments are quite nice inside with all the basic amenities, all new and clean. But the owner got greedy. Got the rent money on the apartments and now wants to pick up some extra cash on the side for his empty plot of land. Shame.

That's my rant for the month.

"Its modern amenities include a swimming pool, Wifi Internet, laundry service, minimart, fitness gym, restaurant, big parking space and CCTV. "

No minimart, no restaurant, no fitness gym. But a great place for music lovers.

they shouldn't be rented more than 4-5k a month in those conditions, it's exactly as sleeping in the huts near the greenmango.

a little off subject, but this year i never saw so many markets like those ones around samui, is it new?
