Where To Find Plantains In Phuket?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I recently moved to Phuket and a lot of he advice on this forum has really helped us out, so thanks for that.

We're trying to find Plantains and thus far have had no luck.

Plantains. Yes, from the same family as Bananas, just much larger and typically you cook them in a variety of ways. I would think these would be readily available in Thailand and SEA but so far no luck. Bananas seem to be everywhere here and for cheap. The climate supports Plantains easily and I believe they originated here but used more in Latin cooking. I'm guessing they are called something else here but not sure.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh, also, athletic tape. I have checked in pharmacies and the big markets with no luck. Haven't checked Makro yet. Not sure where I can get some and need it soon. Thanks again!

Plátanos, only in the Americas, as far as I know.
