Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Isn't that how Thailand works though? One law for the lower class, no law for the wealthy? Thailand implements the tax, in one form or another, and appears to be modernizing on the global stage, and similar to western countries, meanwhile, Thaksin repatriates his billions using whole accounting and law firms to ensure he pays no tax, just like billionaires do in the west. Just on this point, why would Thaksin bring back all his money when he could be arrest and charge with anything at any time and his money confiscated. He would be better leaving his money outside Thai jurisdiction, similar to the way wealthy Chinese get their money out of China. -

Off-duty Thai cop hit by truck while aiding accident victims in Isaan
Killing an off-duty police officer who is coordinating an accident scene will bear a MAXIMUM penalty of 200,000 Baht!!!! This is a clear sign to everybody in Thailand about what a life is worth in this rotten country. -

What do security guards actually do in Thailand?
I don't. But as they are indirectly on my payroll I just want to know a bit more about how it works here. bob. -

Several neighbouring countries compete with Thailand for foreign retirees
If that's true, (I have no reason to doubt it, but it sounds too good...), add that to Thailand's new unlimited land border crossings and I could see a lot of expats moving across the river to avoid the 400/800K baht requirement for extensions, the 90 day reports, as yet unknown tax implications, and that tight feeling in their buttcheeks every year when it's time to renew. Thailand would get more tourist arrivals as we (because I may be one of them) cross over to visit several times a year, but the expats will be spending the majority of their sweaty money in Cambodia. -

Registering car in wife’s name. Good idea?
Was it your Idea to involve a solicitor ? Probate is normally carried out by the provincial family court (at a nominal fee if any) and normally takes 3 months max, using a solicitor could have made it drag on. Just saying no offence intended. -

Swiss Man Bitten by Dog While Jogging on Thai Beach (short)
Not me. When I first came to Thailand I had some soi dogs kill a couple of my kittens. I got "real angry" when they kept coming into the garden. Ever since then dogs don't bother me, even unknown dogs in other areas and cities. Somehow they know 🤷🏻♂️. -

Teenager Stabs Foreign Man in Road Rage Incident Near Pattaya
When I was a teenager the mandatory police action was a full bore boot up the ass. The pain was so great that we needed to eat our meals off the mantle piece for at least a fortnight. We learned the hard way and pulled our heads in or the next step was in the nick. -

What do security guards actually do in Thailand?
Don't expect a lot from them Bob, they work for the Security company who are hired by the condo committee, they earn very small money. They'd take 5000 baht for your Rolex if the found a chance! -

Suspect in Police's killing granted bail by Hua Hin court
The habit of letting murderers out on bail contradicts all normal logic for justice. Especially since in this case the murderer has even confessed. On what grounds is such a killer, whose crime is beyond question, being granted freedom again? -
