SI NAKORN KHUEAN KHAN PARK in Phra Padaeng is a great half day trip from the Sukhumvit area. I went several years ago. Crossing the river in a very small ferry boat is an adventure in itself. Now you could get there via the new bridge to Phra Padaeng. Everyone I asked about this park knew nothing about it, so I ventured out and took the ferry from in front of Wat Klong Toei and found my own way there. About 1/2 of the park is formal garden. The rest is fairly wild. The whole neighbourhood is quite rural.
