Hi All,

If you want to get a resident card (which gives you a 20% discount on BKK Airways flights) you can only get one this month (October) and not again until March or April.

I went in and they were closed (Saturday) but I got an application form, and I have all the listed and required paperwork (work permit, passport, etc.) except it says that you must have a house book with the applicant's name on it. I have been living on Koh Samui for over 3 years and rent.

Has anyone, who has a card already, experienced what their reaction will be to this? I would hope that they would understand I rent and that this card can't be just for people who own a house.

Anyone?

Just bring a copy of your rental contract.

And I had to bring copy of Company papers stating me as partner.

My friend who is only employee was not granted resident card.

And to clarify, It's the Bangkok airways resident card and you must apply at office next to Bangkok hospital.

I made a resident-card 2 years ago and like you I am only renting a house. I made my landlord make a statement that I had a 5 years contract for renting a house with him. This statement was made at an pre-made formula, and that was beside my passport with a 1 year visa all I needed.

Good luck with your application

Thanks for the advice.

Is there a fee to apply for the residence card?

I think we will go there and talk to them this week.
