LOS = Land Of Smiles

It comes from a TOT (Tourist Organization of Thailand) slogan promoting tourist travel to Thailand.

Sometimes it is used as a satirical term, really meaning just the opposite.

Now how about TITS?

When you think of it, the LOS, is a pretty good slogan. Putting all the jokes and stuff aside, whoever came up with it was brilliant. It's a great slogan for a tourist destination. Ok sure, the TG cabin crew probably didn't smile at you on your flight and they aren't beaming from the customs line out past the vulture taxis, but believe it or not as soon as you cross pathes with a Thai, you're gonna get a smile that makes your day a little bit brighter. Compare it with other slogans like Malaysia - Truly Asia, or Uniquely Singapore and Thailand's Land of Smiles sends a warm message.
