Genetic Testing

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where or if genetic testing is available in either Bkk, Samui or Khon Kaen, specifically testing for cancer, even more specific Pancreatic?

Thanks

Boo

I got my DNA tested if that's what you mean. I did it through 23andme.com. They are a US company but you could get them to mail you a vial to spit in and mail it back to them. They are backed by Google and I can confirm they are legit.

No it's more than a dna test, it is specific genetic testing, looking for the cancer gene. Thanks

In Khon Kaen I would try Srinakarin Hospital. That's the teaching hospital for KK University.

If it's a test that could be sent out to a lab, probably any hospital could do it.

Definitely not Samui. Unlikely Kon Kaen.

In Bangkok, the National Cancer Institute has the laboratory capacity and there are doctors in its Research Division with experience in cancer genetics. However, I do not know about the feasibility of an individual obtaining such a test there on demand. Their website is entitrely in Thai, but perhaps your hubby could help you navigate it http://www.nci.go.th/index2.html

Look for a department of medical genetics or something like that.

Or you can consult Dr. Manop Pithukpakorn (US trained specialist in Medical genetics) at Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital (part of Bahgkok Hospital) 2nd & fourth Saturday of each month
