fresnoboy
Has anyone seen the artists rendition of the "Pattaya Monorail" in this weeks Pattaya Mail? It looks like someone is going to fill their pockets, again !!!!!!!! I find it interesting that they ( the powers that be) are going to try and float a monorail when they can't manage to have a scheduled bus service to and from the outskirts to the center of Pattaya. Verrrry strange !!

MrPlumbs
Should be finished by 2028, if the elevated section on the Sukhumvit is anything to go by. I'll be dead then.....
DonTron
I have to agree with fresnoboy - looking at the way they manage their so called "scheduled bus service" does not leave much hope for a monorail.

At least the baht bus will not be able to get on the rails to stop the train.
phaethon
I refer you to : "The Simpsons: Marge vs The Monorail" Note the line after "What about us brain dead slobs?"
LennyW
Keep on taking the tonic lads, as much chance of that happening as the demolition of the "walking street 101"
brianw
If the monorail fails there second project is a space shuttle to Bangkok
basjke
Does this mean more lost parking spaces near each supposed entrance same as they have loads of bus stops but no bus.
whatsoever
This project may well be shelved in favour of the new 'space elevator'. Rumour has it that a deligation of Pattaya Pu Yai Ban's are to meet with Japanese scientists at the new Malibu Bar!
PattayaParent
The new monorail will be put under the control of the Baht Bus Co-operative (locally known as the Baht Bus Mafia) who will will not post fare charges but will make it up as they go along with Farangs paying at least double the fare of Thais. JimmyTheMook
Condo developer's are already claiming rail stops in front of their future/on going projects. Anyone want to buy a seaview VT 6 now ?
Humphrey Bear
But at Songkran it's going to be damned difficult to upset these people on Beach Road. Is this Beach Road? I do not recognise it without 473 baht busses stopping for passengers / overtaking / parking / avoiding moto-taxis. And where are the Indian tailor touts. No this is some Shangri-La a long way removed from Patters.
Zodiac
it will be an eyesore, a pollutant, and lets take bets as to if and when it gets built how many hour from its first start time to a major accident.

The picture here (except the monorail) IS Beach Road, but north quiet side, near Armari Residence and Soi 1.
BSJ
Another bl00dy great idea! With my crook knees climbing up a bunch of stairs to catch a ride will be even more painful than riding in the back of a baht bus! Maybe spending some money on the existing infrastructure would be a better idea.

We would never have trafficjams again. This is the best idea i ever hear and i hope this is the End of the Baht Bus Mafia.
Jingthing
The plan doesn't cover Jomtien or Naklua which doesn't make sense to me. I like the idea in concept but would also bet against it happening in less than 20 years. I also wouldn't like to see the all of the baht buses abolished, just cleaned up and regulated a bit more. Baht buses are local color. Edited October 18, 2008 by Jingthing
