Krabi-lanta Passenger Ferry

Hey Krabi locals, what's happening this year with the Krabi-Lanta passenger ferry? There used to be two daily ferries in the morning and afternoon. Last year it got cut back to only one a day. Are there two ferries operating again? And have the times remained the same? Thanx for any info.

So you are referring to a passenger ferry that is not the car ferries to Lanta Noi, then onto Lanta Yai? The Ao Nang Princess, is that what you are referring to?

Two weeks ago the car ferries I use, they were running three, if you look down the board NBT posted that there will be a new ferry out of Krabi starting soon.

Sorry about not being more helpful, I've only used the car ferries to Lanta (which take passengers too).

No, I mean the passenger ferries from Krabi Ferry Terminal, the ones that stop off Koh Jum so you can transfer to a longtail from your bungalow operation, and then go on to Lanta. Anybody know?

The Missis tells me that ferry, the passenger one from Krabi to Koh Lanta stopping at Koh Jum, has been running for some weeks now and apparently at same times as last year.

I have not any confirmation on this but the season is starting and I would have thought the service would be running by now.

As an aside the weather round Krabi has been WET for weeks or maybe months can't remember been going on for ever. :o Had a couple of sunny days this week and thought at last the good stuff has arrived but now back to dull overcast and dreary

:D:D

But Daffy, are there two passenger ferries per day, like there used to be, or only one per day, like last year?

As I said not sure just what the missis told me "same as times as last year" so I'm guessing yes two per day.

If it's really important I can go down to the office and check :o

has to be a schedule online, probably with a Krabi Travel agency website

Online schedules are very often out of date.

For instance, Andaman Island Hopping.com never updated to show only one boat (at 11:00) as it was last year and still shows two boats at 10:30 and 13:30.

I just wanted to confirm that it's remaining the same as last year (ie one boat at 11:00). It plays an important part in my own flight and accommodation booking and advice I'm giving to others on other forums.

So, if you do happen to be passing by, it would be very nice if you could please check at the ferry terminal, or possibly ask one of the local travel agencies.

Maybe a call to Ao Nang Tourist Centre - telephone 075 637730 or to Krabi Tourist Association - telephone 075 623944 or the Tourism Authority - telephone 076 212213 or Provincial Travellers Assistance - telephone 075 612740 will help.

Today (Monday) it is Pi***ng down with rain and looks like it is here to say for the rest of the day so I'm not leaving the house for any reason :D

Will go to the office tomorrow morning if the rain has stopped by then.

Hope the information is not urgent. :o

No it's not that urgent. But I promise to buy you a beer next time I pass through Krabi if you'll suss out the info for me (or call one of those numbers). Thanx.

The rain eased off a bit this morning and the Missis had to go into town anyway so she got the information.

Krabi ---to--- Lanta

10.30 ----- 13.00

13.30 ----- 16.00

Lanta ---to--- Krabi

8.00 ------- 10.30

13.00 ------ 15.30 All times are subject to change depending on the sea state!

Now this being LOS there is a slight complication :o Seems there are two ferry companies operating now and I'm not sure to which company the times refer. From what I can remember these were the times for PP Family service so I would imagine if another company was also operating they would have a different schedule. :D

Krabi Lanta Ferries

Also you mentioned about stopping off at Koh Jum don't know if both operators do that. As all things in this land of smiles nothing is certain, ain't that half the fun :D

Thanks for the offer of a beer but as the Missis does not drink you are off the hook there. :D

Hi I just got this message from someone who I personally know and trust, who deals with this every day:

"the ferry to koh lanta and koh jum is leaving same last year ( 11:00 am) and ticket 400 baht/person"

So, 11:00 and not 10:30. One ferry per day only.
