Where Change Scottish Banknotes To Baht ?

Featured Replies

I have some money in "Clydesdale Bank" banknotes.

I tried to change them to Thai baht in various banks in The Mall Bang Kapi, but all banks refused to take them.

So, where should I go to change my Scottish money. (Maybe it's just a question of going down to Sukumvit, I don't know.)

I wish you luck, hope you don't have too many :o

Scottish currency often doesn't work in England (despite its being legal tender) I suspect the answer will turn out to be 'Scotland' :D

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

...despite its being legal tender...

I'm Scottish - Scottish bank notes are not actually legal tender...not even in Scotland.

I remember being able to change them in Bangkok 14 years ago for rates poorer than Bank of England notes but I believe that most, and possibly all, banks here no longer exchange Scottish notes.

Works both ways..

Technically English notes aint legal tender in Scotland either but long standing aggrement is that both countries banking systems accepts them. Also only one banlk in England issues their notes whereas noth of Hadrains/Antoniones Wall you got 4 ...assuming that they aint all gone bankrupt :D ...think they have actually.

Also it was as you probly ken a Jock ..Bill Patterson that actually founded the Bank of England....laddi on the make. :D

Ref changing them in LOS you will be lucky ...I find myself having problems trying to cash a £100 note in my local pub ...sometimes.... on a round of ale...but the landlord knows me so OK.......otherwise its the bank.

Did actually change some in Germany once a long time ago and actually got a BETTER exchange rate than for English money but then I was always a bit more pro-Euro enthuastic...and it was Germany... :D

a 100 quid note?? i have trouble changing the english ones too :D

you probably got a better rate in germany as they were a note collector and aint seen one ever before, sell them on the specialist note market later or more than likely they like the sweaties more than the english as they werent after your cold northern land back in the day :D

Its money in the UK but elsewhere its probably seen as Monopoly money. I've never seen Scots pounds listed on any FX chart anywhere.

If I were a Thai bank I wouldn't touch them, just a pain in the anus and maybe worthless as well.

Stick 'em in your wallet and wait until you get home.

Sooner we join the Euro the better........init :o
