Roti Canai

Featured Replies

I've just spent 6 weeks in Malaysia, and have become addicted to Roti Canai. For the uninitiated it looks like this

They generally serve this until 11am for breakfast, then after 4pm just as a snack with a teh tarik (very sweet tea). Although the thought of curry for breakfast is somewhat alien to me, I really did get hooked on this. Apparently it is very fattening, which may explain the few kilos extra baggage I brought back with me.

This is a fried flat bread, which is crispy on the outside, and a bit elasticy in the middle. A bit plain by itself, but dipped in curry sauce becomes a heavenly creation. Generally it comes with a vegetable dahl curry, although you can have 3 different ones They also have fish curry you need to ask for separately, which although I don't eat fish is definitely the best.

I think they may have it somewhere in the 'Arab quarter', 2nd road end of soi Marine, but I've never been in a restaurant there. Anybody have any ideas?
