I've been trying my usual sources for streaming Thai television (eieitv.com, siamTV.org) and have no luck on any channel.

The windows media player says "connecting".....then "ready"....with a blank screen.

The wife would like to watch the Royal funeral.

Does anyone have any idea why nothing seems to be working?

I've tried with Mozilla (which updated yesterday..hmmmmmmm)

And IE.

Any suggestions what to do or how to tune in from the U.S.A. ?

Thanks,

Eric

Don't have a dish....am looking for streaming live free TV. I've had it for a long time.....suddenly it's stopped working.....don't know why.

But thanks anyway.

I get nothing from maxnet or worldwide.....is eieitv working for anybody else?

eieitv works fine for me at the moment. Maybe should you try to clean your browser cache / temporary internet data and try again? Or define another media player as your default program for streaming videos?

How does one go about cleaning the browser cache / temporary internet data?

Sorry if thats a dumb question.

I'm using Mozilla firefox by the way......any tips?

In Firefox, it's equivalent to clearing the private data (Tools -> Clear Private Data). Then, you can select which kind of data you want to clear, and in your case, I would clear at least the "cache" and "offline website data".

Try also with another browser if it does not solve your problem.

OK, I've tried all that. No luck. I tried Internet Explorer ...no luck.

The media player works for other sites....video stuff, but doesn't seem to work for any streaming video. This worked two days ago.....what the heck happened?

Many things could have happened... at this point, I would suggest that you try with another media player, for instance, VLC Media Player. You can download it here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Once installed, you have to type (or copy) the following: http://www.eieitv.com/asx/thai-ch3.asx

(File -> Open Network Stream) in the HTTP/HTTPS/MMS URL field.

If it works with VLC Media Player, you may have a problem with your Windows Media Player (and we can try to find out how to solve it). But if it doesn't work with VLC Media Player either, it's something else and you need to remember what happened (new program? new update?) since the last time it worked with WMP.

This is the message I get on some, not all, websites....

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

Followed by (more detail)

C00D11BB: Cannot play the file

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is either not supported by the Player or not supported by the server.

If you encountered this error by clicking a link on a Web page, the link might not be valid.

If you encountered this error by typing a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) in the Open URL dialog box, try opening the file by using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

A list of protocols that are supported by the Player and the correct syntax follows:

mms://server/filename (for example, a file with a .wma, .wmv, .asf, or .mp3 extension)

http://server/filename

rtsp://server/filename

mms://server/sami.asf?SAMI=http://server/sami/sami_demo.smi (SAMI file)

If Windows Media Player supports the protocol and you still cannot play the content, verify that the Player is configured to use all of its supported protocols.

To configure protocol settings

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Network tab.

In the Streaming protocols area, select all the protocol check boxes.

Note

The supported protocols can be used only to stream digital media files. Windows Media Player cannot be used as a browser.

Error ID = 0xC00D11BB, Condition ID = 0x00000000

Web Help

The problem is, when I go to "tools" then click "options"....then the "network" tab....there is NO "streaming protocols" area!!

It just says "connection" and then "cache"

Anyone know where to find "streaming protocols" ?

(I'm afraid I won't be able to type in the above mentioned player either....I can't locate where :o

OK....found streaming protocols...checked all boxes.

Nothing.

Downloaded VLC player......how do I get the programs to stream through it?

I tried clicking "media" then "streaming" then " network" then I put all that code in the address box and selected "http"

then clicked the little arrow next to "stream" and hit "play".......got an error

If I hit the stream button....it goes into this massive proxy page or something....I'm lost.

HELP :o

I wrote it in my previous post. In VLC Media Player "File" menu, select the "Open Network Stream" option (I wrote: "File -> Open Network Stream" earlier). Then, type or copy the following: http://www.eieitv.com/asx/thai-ch3.asx in the HTTP/HTTPS/MMS URL field.

It should work then. About your Windows Media Player, you may have to uninstall and reinstall it, but first, try with VLC Media Player at least for diagnostic purpose.

My VLC PLAYER doesn't look like that (sigh).......I have no "file" option....it says media/audio/video/playback/playlist/tools/help

under "media" "open network" then network tab....comes up "network protocol"..sub heading boxes "protocol" (whick auomatically goes to http) and "address" in which I copied your link.

I got this.

Your input can't be opened:

VLC is unable to open the MRL 'mms://203.113.9.83/encoder3'. Check the log for details.

Thanks for helping by the way.....sorry if I'm being an idiot :D

Sorry, my mistake... It seems that the last version of VLC media player is quite different than the one that I have on my computer. I will give you a new link soon...

This is the error message after doing what you suggest.

Yes. It's what I get now. I just have checked with another computer and it's exactly the same problem at the moment. I swear it did work yesterday evening (Thailand time)! :o

Will check with another Media Player, but maybe it's a problem on their side...

Still no joy. Anyone got any ideas?

I had mixed results with other media players and other channels (I tried with Winamp, KMP and several others with Thai and French free web TV channels). Alas, it seems that only Windows Media Player works now with Thai channels.

So, maybe should you uninstall your current version of Windows Media Player, then reboot your computer, clean your registry (to be sure) with CCleaner (which is free). Then, reinstall Windows Media Player and check whether or not your problem is soved then...

Try PP Live or TV Ants. Do a google on both and they should be number 1 in the search list. I did try to post links but apparently I am not allowed to do that?!

Not sure that they show Thai TV Channels as I've never tried due to living in Thailand. I do occassionally use one or the other to watch the English Premiership if it's raining and the satellite reception drops.
