Whole House Water Filtration

Featured Replies

Is it possible to make all the water coming into the house pass through a filter system so that all faucets provide clean pure water?

Yes it is possible.

no it is not please read the ops words carefully

If all faucets are connected to the whole house system then yes it is possible.

Depends what you understand under pure clean water. Drinkable water must pass a filtration system like reverse osmosis, the capacity is limited to 1 faucet.

Alternatively you can have the larger filtration system you can find here and collect water in a tank. From there you pump it to the main. The capacity from the filtration system by itself is not sufficient to connect directly to the main supply. The quality will be just “clean”.

Aiming at a European standard drinkable tap water supply is out of reach…

Depends on the op's classification of pure, clean water.

If "drinkable" filtered water is what you after, a standard filtering system should suffice, volume (and how many taps open at one time) totally dependant on the size of the filtering system.

At my daughters school, all the kids drink filtered water straight from the mains pipe. It passes through a filter system that can handle 50,000 litres an hour.

The filters are in a bank of a dozen and all over six feet tall x twelve inches in width.

It is possible, but the filtering system will need to be large enough depending on the size of your dwelling and the number of faucets in the system, also in order to maintain a sufficient system pressure a pump should also be installed to supply the filtering system preferably a constant pressure type it will maintain pressure in the system and start pumping as soon as any faucet is opened.

The filters will also need to be kept regularly cleaned so the the system doesn't lose pressure and the water is purified.

i [not so] respectfully claim that you are a clown :o

The common way is for a filter to be places between the incoming water and the tank. This is just a simple plastic filter usually which does / does not filter out large particles of dirt. It does not clean water for drinking or even (sometimes) bathing purposes. To get better you have to spend more. Anything is possible if you are p[prepared to throw enough cash at it.

I don’t really see the benefit of having drinkable water at every faucet in the house. We are talking large equipment here that will take up considerable space, require maintenance and will cost you a small fortune. You don’t want to drink from every tap do you?

Ha, keep it simple in LOS. I installed a filter with a storage tank that does job just fine. Unless planning your own brewery and need a huge amount of pure water :o
