Choice Of Thai Wife Or Non-imm Visa.

Featured Replies

I currently have a Thai wife visa, and if I can(unlikely as it is a BIG hassle) get 400,000B(so they say), I can get another year extension.

I now have a work permit, so I believe I can get a non-imm "B" if I want.

If I want an extension to my visa, I have to go to Nong Kai. If I want a non-imm B, I can go a bit further to Vientienne.

Now I am thinking a "Non B" is better as no money to show every year.

If, however, I stop my work, then the "wife visa" is better as I don't think I would have to cancel that, but not sure.

I am as "Lopburi3" suggested in another thread going to Nong Kai with my wife before my visa expires.

Should I go for the extension or get a non-imm B ?

Maybe there are some advantages for either that I am overlooking.

Cheers

The B visa is likely only going to be valid for 90 days. You then have to extend it with a qualifying salary (rather high if from most English speaking countries). It ends if your job ends.

Support Thai wife has a lot more flexibility IMHO. Immigration, seeing your job, will likely be very supportive and if you do not currently have full 400k in bank do not believe it will be much of a problem getting yearly extensions (and then work permit to match). Do talk with them about this option.
