Pedestrian Deaths

I just worked out why the sidewalks here are so ' cluttered ' with telephone boxes and street stalls - because if they were clear, the drivers would you use them as well - like the bike riders do..! They do love their cars here dont they but i am amazed at how pedestrians in Bangkok are so subserviant to car drivers - is it because so many get run over ? It`s quite the opposite to the USA where drivers have to respect the pedestrian. The drivers here

certainly dont act like Buddhists when they are behind the wheel and are quite agressive at time arent they ?

I reckon that because the traffic in BKK is so bad, most cars can't really get up the speed to kill someone.
