Is This The End?

Featured Replies

Is this the end..... of ordinary people wearing Yellow on a Monday and has what was once wearing a mark of respect for a loved monarch now become a political symbol many will not want to be associated with?

It's unclear - they've not been popular the last couple of days, but next Monday the masses will likely stick to yellow, or go to blue, pink...

Certainly, the yellow shirts will come out on the 5th, in huge numbers - tens of millions, literally.

Yes, I’m afraid PAD have stolen the real meaning of what the yellow shirts stand for and made it their own.

The same scenario as with the Union Jack and the nazi British National Party.

The staff and many at work always wore yellow on Monday, but no longer have for some time now. I feel you are right and that the meaning unfortunately has shifted, at least for the moment.

I have noticed a decline in yellow shirts.

I have noticed this too.

But I think that it is only temporary, and nothing to do with the colour being hijacked.

Rather they just don't want to be mistaken for PAD and get caught up in all of this crap. I wonder how many people (especially Thai's) feel about wearing red in the North in regards to their safety.

Yes.

Perhaps we should turn this into a poll?

The result might surprise jdinasia.

In Chiang Mai unadvisable to wear a yellow shirt and many don't wear red as they wish to appear neutral but in fact do support (red).

Many schools have been advising to avoid wearing both yellow and red.

Yes.

Why would a poll on here surprise me? People would tend to respond along preconceived notions .. and it would not be indicative of reality for Thai people :o

Take a look on Monday .. then again on the 5th to see the answer.

Sally, why would people hide being a "red" in CNX?

Yes.

I've noticed on the last couple of Mondays that there haven't been so many yellow shirts around. Next Friday is special and nearly everybody will be wearing yellow but, for most, it won't be indicating any allegiance to the PAD.

Yes ka, I also avoid wearing red as well..

Frightened of being hit or attacked... :o

(edit for: grammar's correction)

Don't think that mob will change a tradition that goes back at least 400 years - even although it maybe temporarily suspended.

I would have to concur, being an observer of Bangkok rush hour most days of the week, that yellow-shirt-wearing has seriously declined on Mondays.
