The only place I can find the quoted statement is on the French Embassy's site (Ambassade de France en Thaïlande)

On another site was this: "The European Union Ambassadors in Bangkok" regarding a statement issued on 26 Nov, referencing the deteriorating situation, but nothing about the airport.

Air Force chief repeats call for Govt to dissolve House

Air Force Commander-in-Chief ACM Itthaporn Supawong Sunday repeated the military's call for Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat to dissolve the House.

He said the call was agreed upon during a meeting of the situation monitoring committee and agreed by heads of government agencies, academics and representatives of the private sector.

The Air Force chief said the government had nothing to fear because it could win the next election again.

I was against a coup but with the latest developments I think it has to happen. Otherwise it's gonna be a bloodshed. But the PAD leaders should be sent to jail as well as people involved in vote buying and corruption from the PPP (or Thai Rak Thai). Those two "movements" have gone too extreme. And what about writing a real constitution this time (for the first time actually...)??? People have been so much brainwashed that western type of democracy wouldn't work, but were any of the thai governments of the last decades efficient and working for the good of thai people? Maybe it's time for a change, maybe it's time for a new generation of politician to stand up. I guess I'm too optimistic, but I think what's happening now is just the first step of a much bigger revolution that could happen in a few years and if you let things go like this without acting it might be a real civil war next...

That should remove any trepidation among prospective visitors to Thailand!!

Thanx Robbo, the only reason I highlight this is that the Travel Industry in the UK is dire, the £ is 27% down on the baht, the air fares were cheap, but not now, the accomodation and prices in Thailand are now expensive for Tourists.

So, with Thailand in such a Political frenzy,with apparent lack of Police involvement, or indeed the Military to protect the Democratically elected Government, views on such Anarchy is bound to be reflected in such loss of Tourism .

100,000 tourists are stranded in Thailand at the moment, with a similar amount unable to get there for their vacation. I love Thailand and wish it a speedy Politically sane recovery, (that should get a response..!!); however, in the 'World Credit Crunch' it wasn't the best time to shoot itself in the foot...............

COURT RULING LOOMS

Veera Musikapong, a DAAD leader, told the Nation newspaper one focus of the rally would be the alleged bias of the courts.

The Constitutional Court has moved with uncharacteristic speed to conclude a vote fraud case on Tuesday, widely expected to lead to the disbanding of Somchai's People Power Party (PPP) and two other partners in the ruling coalition.

"It is obvious that there is interference with justice. It was well planned, and this is a concealed coup," Veera said.

If the court dissolves the three parties, Somchai and other leaders would be barred from politics and many cabinet ministers would have to step down.

The chaos caused by the airport sit-ins has sparked rumors of a military coup, even though the army chief has said he will not seize control.

The political chaos has worried Thailand's neighbors, who are due to meet there next month for a regional summit. Surin Pitsuwan, head of Southeast Asia's 10-nation grouping, ASEAN, said on Sunday a postponment may be wise.

Somchai, who refuses to quit and embarked on a rural roadshow on Sunday to drum up support for his government, was expected to make a final decision on the summit on Tuesday.
