Can anyone confirm the present requirement?

Do they want to see a lump sum in the bank or is a regular income satisfactory?

/edit

Should add, this is based on supporting wife, not retirement.

For a non-O visa, not an extension, based on marriage their is no income requirement. Just show up with a copy of your marriage certificate and ID of your wife.

Only for an extension from immigration within Thailand do you need to show a family income of 40,000 baht a month. Can be your's, your wife's or a combination of the 2. Money doesn't have to be from within Thailand.

Thanks everyone.

Looks like I might go that route next time rather than the extension. Costs work out about the same and there's no need to deal with nightmare immigration in Nong Khai. Plus I get a 'holiday' every 3 months.
