yeah i have been trying to get people to go there with me because from what i hear it has the most progressive djs, but i think it is more indie music than electro... still, check out the Soma djs that have parties there- my friend cloudbusting could probably tell you more about that...

Been to club culture afew times.

Its alright but does not pick up until late though. It actually has a dance floor area as opposed to everyone dancing where they sit/drink.

You can try RCA, Flick, its next to Film at the Rama 9 end. They play some good house/electro.

I think that anyplace where no one (other than the hookers) looks twice in your direction automatically = poser pretentious place.

Bed's just another place to eat and drink.

That's too bad. There seems to be a resurgence of dance music again, especially with the remixing of genres through combining rock/disco/electronic/dance. Maybe, I'll check out Club Culture by the Phaya Thai BTS stop for an off night.

You should check out the Club Soma and Dudesweet nights although Club Soma would be a little more indie/alternative but also play what you seem to be looking for.

Club Culture is pretty good for varying it up with nights for indie-electro/dubstep/psytrance and a few international djs.

808 in RCA has an Ed Banger (same record label as justice) night every once in a while. Mr. Flash is playing there on the 27th.

Trying to find a club without 'posers' is a pose itself.

I was at Bed twice this week, first for salsa night and again on Friday for DJ Octo, enjoyed both nights. DJ Octo -- he's not progressive but he's solid -- is my favorite regular DJ in BKK now. At the Q Bar's 9th anniversary party this week they were giving out thumbdrives with various DJ mixes and I found Octo's mixes the most listenable.

Bed clubs full of nobs, most of the birds in there are whores trying to act hi-so as well. Qbars pretty much the same too.

not the most poser place in the city but it tries very very hard. Can be fun when a specific DJ is playing a one off, and for private parties the venue is great. But otherwise, unless you are gay (sundays) or a pushing-30 thai girl who wants to meet a western guy, or a group of holiday tourists, it isnt worth a look in in my opinion.. Has an interesting restaurant early evening on the left hand room as you walk in, which turns into a whiskey on tables with sofas on sides area later. Right hand room has a bar, upstairs bit for watching the dance floor below (which is small). Gets too hot for me when full. I stopped enjoying it after my second visit, as it tries to cover too many bases/interests and manages to never do one thing properly.

Justice!! They hardly play justice enough yet in New York, Miami or London! How can you expect Bangkok to have caught up!!

But when it gets here it will be heard in RCA, maybe club culture, karafun (new western dj spotted there the other night- good sign). But honestly come on, could you think of a harder genre of music to look for??? "electro like Justice" you may as well ask for a "car like a motorbike" or a "beer like a fruit juice" (kriek cherry beer from belgium in case you're wondering!)

Anyone know anything about Raindogs run by DJ Bradley Kaos at the bottom end of Phraya Phiren under the overpass?

I've been up in CM and it's mostly hip hop up there.

Looking for smaller funkier clubs with good mixing playing tribal through to hard trance and open late of course.

All suggestions welcome.

Raindogs is chill, but its not a club, more of a eccentric lounge. Very friendly atmosphere though, some coworkers of mine pretty much could do anything there, control the music and what not... Has interesting art and decorations and they have documentary nights often

Rain Dogs is not really 'run' by anyone other than the couple that tend bar. The owners are freelance journos who wanted a place to drink with friends. They're open to almost anything but the only regular program there is the Tuesday night documentary film evening, which offers films on photographers or photogrpahy. They may soon add a night for docs about music or feature films with a music theme. It's mainly a late-night rendezvous for journos, photographers, film people, It's grungy and underground, and appeals more to members of Bangkok's growing anti-DJ, anti-clubbing culture. Even if they do have the occasional DJ, the live music nights always get their biggest turnouts.

hmm i disagree... justice and similar electro stuff has been playing for a long while in NY... should have reached here by now... i get so tired of hip hop, crappy trance from the 90's, or pop music here, but then, why should thailand be into western music i guess.

hmm... i am not anti-club culture, i enjoy myself in a club now and then, but bangkok doesn't have much at all to offer beyond that and crappy pubs or sex bars. it's nice to see that people are expanding their interests and trying to bring more independent culture to the city.

Like I said earlier, there's an Ed Banger night in 808 on the 27th and they'll play the likes of Justice there. I can't guarantee there'll be a decent crowd though. The last night held there was pretty quite.

Club Culture can be quite enough on some of it's better nights too but I guess you have to make a decision on following the crowds or finding somewhere with decent music.

closes at 2am like most places (by law), yes they ask for ID and have a dress code too (no shorts, sandals), and the entrance fee varies but is usually around 700b including a drink or two

Stopped by Raindogs last night after receiving numerous invites via FB and found it a very dull but gay place. As of midnight there was perhaps 30 people there.

Mixing was mediocre and the play list eclectic to say the best - jumping from one genre to another. Main interest seemed to be on the indoor tent being used as a projection screen for hardcore gay porn depicting well endowed ladyboys demonstrating their prowess's.

Perhaps it might go off later in the night but this type of video show is not something that I go to clubs for. Another FB group I can remove now.
