Well, we are about 7 days since PAD were kind enough to hand back Swampy airport to it's owners ...

For anyone who has travelled through the airport in these pass few days, I'd like to know if you saw:

- Police patrolling inside the airport with machine guns (as per London Heathrow and other major airports)

- Tanks or armoured vehicles patrolling outside and at airport entrance/cargo roads

- visible increase in the number of police and security guards

etc etc etc

In short, has anything visible been done to improve the airport security?

Why would they want to improve the security?

The last 'attack' was done with the full support and allowance of the people that run the country. If another group tried it, without prior permission they'd be quickly slaughtered.

Since when did the elected gov't run the country?

This country has never been run by the elected officials.

... people that run the country

So that wouldn't be the elected government then?

Correct. :o

You two are posters that I respect, thus I trust you're being ironic...

Can I mention the proxy Prem(ier) or is that banned too?

I was thinking about the people with big guns and tanks, not Thaksin. :D

BTW - Simon! Just saw you interviewed on MCOT news (Ch-9) while standing in a Phuket paddy field! I hope you saw it. Good stuff! :D

Big guns and tanks'd be the army / PAD / Dems / other , i.e. not the elected government, at current times.

I was departing yestarday - some 1 km before the airport the 3 line road narrowed to only 1 line with 15 cops looking into passing cars windows. There is not much road traffic to the airport, so not much a problem, but they might have organised it a different way.

in the departures (landside) at the very corner of the terminal, after the last checking in area (might be 'Z' zone) 4 cops with 2 sniffing dogs just seating on chairs behing the desk (!) hidden from the sight and chatting to each other and playing with dogs. In half an hour I was watching them they did not move around or communicated, I even did not see them having walki-talki

if this stays on topic - can mods please move to Suvarnabhumi Forum? I'd also be interested to see what has changed since they re-opened Swampy....

G'day Simon - hope all is well in Phuket. Just a quick suggestion; try swapping '\' to '/' in your unquote headers....

I believe that topic is also sadly off limits. :o
