A Japanese Tourist Died After A Cliff Accident In Krabi.

Krabi police identified the body of 74 year old Japanese man who fell off a cliff at Rai Ley bay in Krabi on Tuesday afternoon. He died after going out for rock climbing with his wife and friends, all together five people. The group was reportedly staying at a local resort on Rai Ley beach and went out cliff climbing. While reaching about 30 metres high, the man accidentally fell, smashed into tree branches and rocks, before falling on the ground. Police said he had a broken neck, head injury and wound on his body. Police will investigate whether the climbing gear which belonged to the climber himself met safety standards. The man was said to be a professional rock climber. After his retirement, he had apparently done rock climbing in different places.

item--5--- Krabi authority and Red Cross Society arranged blood donation activity as part of its program to do good deeds for HM the King’s Birthday.

Government officials, the general public and students in Krabi donated their blood for the Krabi Red Cross Society to keep in the blood bank in reserve for any emergencies. The activity was arranged by Krabi authority, Red Cross Society Krabi chapter and the Krabi Hospital as part of their messages in honour of HM the King for his Birthday on December 5th this year. The event was led by Governor Siwa Sirisaowalak. A total of 345 donors contributed to a successful donation campaign of 138,000 cc.

item--6--- A walking or pedestrian only street is now introduced in Krabi town.

Lane number 8 off Maharaj Road in the town of Krabi is now designated as a pedestrian or walking street during 5 – 10 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The new facility was marked opened by Krabi Governor Siwa Sirisaowalak on December 5th. The zone is a great place for local premium quality OTOP products such as souvenirs, food and beverage, herbal products, antiques plus many more. The governor expects the lane to promote local tourism and be a place for tourists and residents to relax and enjoy arts, handicrafts and shopping. The authority spent 3.5 million baht on the project.

Krabi tourism sectors plan to host ‘International Krabi Rock climbing and Fire Show contest’ next year to stimulate tourism

The second ‘International Krabi Rock Climbing and Fire Show Contest’ is planned to be held in April next year to revitalize the sleepy tourism mood. The local Tourist Association president Amarit Siripornjuthakul said his organization joins hands with the provincial Hotel Association, tourism operators from Rai Ley and Ton Sai bays expecting the event to attract visitors, both Thais and foreigners alike, from Japan, Singapore, Chile and Ireland. They also expect at least 100 million baht circulation then. Mr. Amarit also stated that Krabi rock climbing is famous among tourists with an estimated 300,000 people per year. The cliff at Tonsai and RaiLey has about 1000 climbing routes to offer to visitors.
