I'm here from Canada on a 90 day O-A visa and plan on applying for a 1-year retirement extension within the last 30 days and have a few questions related to that:

1) I am living in Phuket and when it comes time to apply for the extension, I will need a letter from the Canadian embassy verifying that I have the qualifying pension income - is the only way I can obtain such a letter to go the BKK embassy in person to get it?

2) Is there an immigration office in Phuket where I can make application for the extension or do I have to go to BKK to do that?

3) I remember reading about having to report your address every 90 days - if you change your address within that 90 days are you required to report the change immediately or just notify within every 90 day period what your address is?

1. contact your embassy to see what documents they require. Some embassies allow you to apply by mail.

2. Yes, there is an immigraiton office in Phuket and you can apply there.

3. A change of adress should be reported, but is not realy enforced. Your landlord should notify immigration too.

What is a "90 day O-A visa"? :o

I thought all O-A's were all one-year visas, and the only variation was some were single entry and others were multiple entry.

I believe the single-entry non-OA visa is valid for travel to Thailand within 90 days from the date of issue.

When referring to a time period for a visa some people mean the validity period of the visa, other people mean the period of permission to stay when entering with the visa, some other people mean one thing with some types of visa and the other thing with other types of visa.

And some people write non-OA visa when they mean the non-O visa and after arrival in Thailand plan to apply for the retirement extension.
