Me, my wife and our son (1 y.o.) are Russian citizens. We're arriving to Bangkok on Jan, 12th, 2009. We have a return ticket to Moscow dated 04 May 2009 (Swiss airlines). We'll make a visa run to Malaysia in February to get a tourist visa there. The question is will we get a 30 day stamp when we arrive to Bangkok? I've heard, sometimes bordermen ask for a return ticket, sometimes they don't. I've booked air tickets on Feb 08 on berjaya-air.com and they sent me a plain e-mail confirmation (with booking number and flight number). No receipt, no e-ticket. If I show the bordermen this email will it be ok for getting the stamp?

Thanks

Immigration in BKK normaly don't check if you have a ticket out of the country. They leave it up to the airline.

Immigration will accept an e-ticket, the e-mail itself I don't know. They have to be able to check it.

Airlines no longer use paper tickets, only e-tickets. I am quite sure that the email you received from the online ticket seller is an electronic ticket. Different airlines use different texts for e-tickets so I can’t tell you exactly what to look for in the text for confirmation that the email you have is an e-ticket.

With the length of time that you plan on staying it would be better to get tourist visas at a Thai consulate before you leave. You could stay for 60 days and get a 30 day here at immigration. You could get 2 entry visas also that would make your stay even longer and only require one departure and return.

It would save you leaving and returning so many times.

See the following webpage for a list of consulates in Russia. http://en.thaiembassymoscow.com/info/?sect...d4&artid=47

Your email may work for the flight into the country but since it is not a purchased ticket the airline may not accept it as proof of a return flight. Proper e-tickets have ticket numbers on them.
