Iphone At Mae Sai

Featured Replies

Greetings gang,

Let me star by saying that I am not

mobile phone savvy at all. I have a 5

year old Samsung that does me fine.

Went on my first visa run to Mae Sai

yesterday and they were selling iiphone

(assume knock offs) for 5000 Baht.

I had a play with one and they seemed

ok (to me anyway). I think they would make

great Xmas presents.

What do the more knowledgable people about

phones thins of this? I mean even if they only

lasted a year they would be pretty good value.

Would appreciate any advice.

Regards

Will

The knockoffs are normally junk. I'd save 5,000 baht if I were you. Even the cigarettes at Mae Sai are knockoffs.

The REAL iPhones are made and assembled and even shipped from China. Is it possible the knock offs are good copies? Has anyone tried one?

Not worth it

China made phonea r junk i learned the hard way lol

My gf bought an ICLONE from Udon Thani last year for less than 3K. The Software is garbage and though the screen is decent size and is fairly bright, it is not responsive. Save yourself the money and headaches.

Junk

I bought one in Mae Sai and as said here the interface is slow and unwieldy. It makes a fun paperweight.

Not being a fast learner last week I bought a "mini" Iphone in MBK with two sim slots. Only 3000bt I told myself. Again its so difficult to use that it is also relegated to paper weight status after only a day, although it does not even perform that job as well as the Mae Sai one which is bigger and heavier than a real Iphone.

Which I have. What an idiot I am. These Chinese Iphones really are terrible. I even tried to sell my Mae Sai one last summer on Ebay and nearly got banned as a counterfeit trader. I only said it LOOKED like an Iphone and they got VERY heavy. I assume loads of apple lawyers with bad marriages were on their case.

If you have never seen an Iphone, and will never be able to afford one, I still don't think you should get one. Total Absolute rubbish.

I am amazed so many people have 1st hand experience with these.... :o:D :D

Hi All,

I bought a Chinese-made iPhone clone (CECT 599+) from the Internet for

6000 baht. Works great. I like it a lot better than my N95.

Touch screen is responsive, plays music well, accepts 2 GB mem card,

and came with a stylus.

I am a total geek when it comes to electronics and I do love

to hack into my toys. All in all, it is a good phone for the price.

I am waiting for Samsung to come out with their Android-based phone

in qtr 2 of 2009.
