If it all were not so blatantly corrupt it could actually be funny .... Its so cute to see you focusing on the real problems like confusion by some posters over which PM (acting or not) is which ...... whilst real sicknesses from the new government continues unabated & without any comment. Pol Gen Patcharawat arrived back in his old office at 10am yesterday. He said he was only following orders and denied his return had anything to do with his elder brother's appointment to the defence portfolio.

He denied the government was meddling in the police force, while pointing out that the govrnment commanded the Royal Thai Police office.

Asked about the planned protest by the pro-Thaksin Shinawatra United Front of Democracy (UDD) on Sunday and Monday, he said he would depend on dialogue in dealing with all protesters.

Deputy Metropolitan Police chief Pol Maj-Gen Amnuay Nimmano said the UDD had the right to demonstrate but must not break the law.

If they tried to seize the parliament grounds to disrupt the government's delivery of its policy statement on Monday they would be arrested for insurrection.

He insisted he had no prejudice against either red or yellow shirts.

BANGKOK – Following their seventh “Final Battle” which again failed to bring down the government or start a general groundswell of urban revolution, the People’s Alliance For Democracy announced a new tactic of randomly assassinating their own members to “create a renewed sense of urgency,” according to spokesperson and leader Chamlong Srimuang.

“Our best rallies and press coverage have come after bloodshed,” Chamlong noted, citing the police crackdown on October 7, which left two PAD protestors dead, as the highlight of the current campaign to unseat the PPP-led government. “The Nation gave us a special ‘Black October’ special edition, and the TV news ran for almost 12 hours straight. We came very close to forcing a coup.”

Unfortunately for the PAD, cooler heads prevailed and the police retreated before more PAD members were killed. Additionally the strategy of police restraint has been practiced thoroughly ever since, providing the PAD no additional incidents for outrage until a very lucky break last week, when an unknown assailant launched a grenade towards a PAD tent in the middle of the night, killing one PAD member. The same thing happened several days later, leading to what Chamlong calls “a great week for us.”

The PAD was however unable to translate the renewed outrage into sufficient numbers to overthrow the government in Monday’s “Final Battle.” With only a turnout of about 20,000 total, including a mere 11,000 at the storming of the Parliament building, the PAD was forced to up the ante by finding new and creative ways to break the law.

“We cut power cables, we hijacked buses, we assaulted policemen in broad daylight,” lamented Sondhi Limonthonghkul, a PAD leader. “We vandalized property, impeded traffic, caused a public nuisance, and even closed down schools. It is absolutely disgusting that the police refuse to shoot us. Since they won’t do it, we will.”

Although the PAD has refused to disclose exact details, it has been informally announced that starting next week PAD guards will be randomly cutting the throats of one or more PAD supporter while they sleep, and possibly stringing up the body on a lamppost with anti-monarchy insults written on it, and a note taped to the corpse signed by Thaksin Shinawatra, Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, and the nation of Cambodia. The Nation newspaper is believed to have been granted special access to photograph the corpse first.

Response to the PAD’s plan to kill its own members has been generally well-received by PAD members. “I have said from the beginning that I am willing to die to save this country,” said Nanthavorn Krisdawithee, a 67-year old PAD protestor from Hat Yai. “If getting killed by my own friends can help make it happen, then I’m happy to do my part.”

“If I die by the PAD’s hands, it will be Thaksin’s fault,” she added.

Bloomberg showed 2 interviews about 6 months ago with the Taskin appointed finance bloke (that DR guy who knew nothing about finance) and

Korn the shadow/opposition spokesman.They were like chalk and cheese.The Dr knew nothing about finance and could not string a proper

sentence together while Korn r was articulate, knowledgeable and had some very good points and ideas.

Just a shame hes now getting his chance heading into the worst financial crisis ever IMO.

Oct 7 clash response an 'inhuman act'

Former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat, 31 of his former cabinet members and 24 police should be charged with murder over the bloody clash with protesters at Government House which left two dead and hundreds injured, a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) investigation report has recommended.

The findings of the NHRC investigation into the tear gas incident involving People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) members were sent to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on Tuesday.

NHRC spokesman Surasee Kosolnawin said the 116-page probe report found the firing of tear gas to disperse PAD demonstrators was an inhuman act. The report said officers involved in the operation had overreacted.

The panel concluded that police involved in the operation and the Somchai government must be held responsible. They would be subject to deliberate murder and attempted murder charges as stated in articles 157, 295, 297, 288, 289 and 83 of the Criminal Code.

If found guilty by the NACC, the case would be sent to the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions, Mr Surasee said, adding the NHRC panel had no authority to file the case with the court.

According to the report, senior police involved in the operation testified before the panel that the Somchai cabinet resolved on Oct 6 night to disperse PAD demonstrators.

Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, then deputy prime minister, was assigned to supervise the operation.

None of the cabinet members attending the meeting had opposed the use of tear gas and force in clearing the demonstrators.

The dispersal, which killed two demonstrators and injured 471, was an act of human rights violation and unlawful, according to the panel.

A total of 31 cabinet members and four political officials attended the Oct 6 cabinet meeting before the dispersal was launched the following day.

There were 24 senior police officers involved in the crackdown.

Among them were Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan, then national police chief, his three deputies, Pol Gen Pansiri Prapawat, Pol Gen Viroj Paholvet and Pol Gen Jongrak Chutanont and city police chief Pol Lt-Gen Suchart Muenkaew, the report said.
