Help And Advice On Baby Milk

Featured Replies

Hi,

To those of you that already have children,I became a proud father on December 5th,when we left the hospital our new baby daughter was being fed on snow baby milk, which we have continued with but we are now not sure if its any good..

Our new baby was fine for about 9 days but now her system seems to be slow and she is getting a lot of trapped wind,at this stage we are not sure if its the milk, so we are considering a change.

Can anyone recommend another brand that has been good,as I know there seem to be so many and its all new to me..

Many Thanks

It's normal for babies to be gassy. At 9 days her digestive systemt is very immature and gas is the norm. Formula makes for more gas too. Tummy massage and possibly a change (ask pediatrician first) in formula.

Some bottles have a system to reduce the amount of air coming in the stomach when feeding. If you use the basic bottles you might try ones with such a system.

Yes I know of a bottles which are by Dr Brown and can be bought in most good shops which are designed to reduce colic, my friend had the same problem but these bottles did help.

Dr Brown system is good but it's a real pain to clean the bottles.

Avent has an easier system, but expensive (nearly 500 THB / bottle I think).

I'd recommend Avent bottles. I researched before our baby was born (now 17 months) and we are still using them. Totally brilliant.

As for powder, ours has been on Dumex, now on the 2nd stage. She thrives on it and has done since birth. She rejected her mother's milk quite early.

So my advice would be to switch to Avent, making sure you get the different stage teats. Go online for information. Available in Robinsons and Emporium amongst others.

Your baby will be gassy. Ours was. Burping her after feeding had to be done but then giving her a little water also helped.

Congratulations on your new arrival.
