Sky Train to run 24 hours during New Year

BANGKOK: -- Bangkok's Sky Train will operate for the full 24-hours on the last day of 2004 to help commuters participating in the city’s New Year celebrations.

Fares will also be at a special lower rate.

The commuter service will begin from 06:00 a.m. on 31 December and operate to 06:00 a.m. on 1 January, 2005.

An all-day Bt 100-ticket will be reduced to Bt 90, according to an advisor to the Bangkok Transit System, Anat Aphaphirom.

Among the major New Year celebrations planned for the night of 31 December are the Pathumwan Amazing Countdown outside Lumpini Park and one at the Central World Plaza near Rajdamri Intersection.

The Shopping Street Fair and an international food fair will also be held along the entire Rajdamri Road.
