The Pongnoi Art Space Gallery is having an interesting show starting December 26, 2008 running through February 6, 2009. From what I have seen of the previews, it looks like examples of the artist’s early work as he was encouraged by his father, presented in a very creative fashion along with his recent works as well. Khun Monrudee is a very creative artist, and you will certainly see an interesting style of expression.

To get to Pong Noi Art Space, go south of Suthep Road on Canal Road about three kilometers until you reach the intersection with the caution blinker at the Police Box. Cross over the opposite lanes of the Canal Road and drive 500 meters, turning RIGHT just before a sala (covered sitting area) in front of a school. Wat Pong Noi will be on your left after you make this turn. Drive all the way past the wall of the wat and turn LEFT just before a dingy motorcycle repair stall. (If you see T Doi Residence, you went too far.) The gallery is on the left about 200 meters up this very narrow soi.

The attached image shows times of the show. If you attend on a Saturday or Monday, you could also visit a very traditional Thai market at Wat Pong Noi that does make the area a bit congested on those days. The Luang Prabong coffee shop is across from the wat which is also good for a visit and an excellent cup of coffee.

You can spend a relaxing day at the lake, eating and hiking with friends. It's a nice 6 km walk around the lake where you can swim or go fishing.

Or, you can be more adventurous and take a day trip to one of the many waterfalls within a few hours drive...

Or take a bamboo raft trip down some river.

All righty then! :o So where was this post headed?

You are right, T dog. Thanks for the memo. I'll remove my photos from this thread and repost them on the other Chiang Mai topic of things to do.

Hmmm? Seems I can't edit my old post? :D

I'll still just repost them slightly differently on the "What to do in Chaing Mai thread".

I calculated it to be just short of 4kms. Nice pics though and I agree, it is a nice walk.

Ian: No worries! My first post of the art exhibition didn't get any replies at all, so your photos actually make the thread more interesting! My friend owns the studio and he always has interesting things to display.
