I have exhausted everything I that I can think in a search the only one according Gadget Trends that will work is water proof and tough enough to work on a bike is the Zuma 550.

With the maps we are talking 41K baht, way out of my ballpark

Anyone got any ideas?

The idea is to get a voice direction from the GPS into the helmet and have rider to passenger communication.

Turns out it is &7 Baht to get the map installed with one upgrade.

If you purchase out of country no warranty work here has to go back to the Garmin factory.

The blue toothe aspects really mean very little to me. So I'm thinking in terms of a hardwired intercom system and visual GPS I think probably the 60 SC.

Haven't bought anything yet so I'm not locked into anything yet. A friend gave me an inexpensive intercom system. It was fun, the wife and I ride together all the time.

So speaker in the helmet and micrphones would do the trick.

I have never had a GPS before friend told me today who has used them for some time I would endup turning the sound off cause it would be yelling at me all the time about the speed :o

I actually have three Garmins. The one that would work for you is the eTrex Legend CX. It is a hand held unit that doesn't speak, only beeps. It does everything the bigger units do and is just as accurate. It is rugged and waterproof enough that you can actually submerge it. It also has a place for a cord on the back so it can be tied to something. I used it for hiking, which I now do VERY little of. I tie it to the front basket of the motorbike when I go exploring. They do sell a handlebar mount for it. If you find an eTrex you have to make sure it is the CX or HCX model because the regular one doesn't have a memory card and the internal memory isn't big enough for the whole Thailand map. The model with the "HCX" has a more sensitive satellite detection chip. The extra sensitivity is good for underpasses and the tall buildings in Bangkok. It's not necessary around here.
