The internet if pretty important to me. The reliability and the connection being instant. I believe Thailand ADSL is pretty good already for doing this. Only the speed is somewhat slow. At the TTT and TOT offices they advertise with ADSL connections international. The cost of the speed national and international does not seem to be the same. To get the same amount of megabytes download speed from outside is just more expensive. Now my quistion is. Has anybody tried this change to international speed? Is it any faster or is it still slow?

Thailand has a bottleneck for external sources and thus, whilst local speeds may be up to scratch, you often see international speeds grind to a halt. There are scores of threads on this in this forum alone.

As for TOT or TT&T then some people have no choice. Most in fact.

I have heard about some serious speeds available (not Korean style though) but they cost serious money, way beyond what individuals would want to pay.

Just to keep it simple. The international ADSL for TTT or TOT. It is more expensive. Is it any better? Or is it as I fear just a way to get more money from farrang?

Two things are really important when one is talking about international speed:

1. Latency

2. Packet loss

And only after these factors the transfer speed is the 3rd factor.

TOT currently has an average packet loss of 20% and a delay of around 1 second. This is measured from AMS-IX in Europe. CAT has an average delay of 400ms and almost no packetloss. Graphs from the last 24 hours (measured every 5 minutes):

TTT is a subcontractor of TOT and uses the same backbone infrastructure. The major delay is caused by a poor design of their domestic network setup, so whatever they advertise with, your traffic has to travel over this network before it reaches their border gateways.

TTT is not dependant of TOT anymore, see the thailand internet traffic map if you wanna be sure.

TTT is indeed working a lot better than TOT for the same price, only if you have no other choice should you choose TOT, no need for the premier package, the indy package will be enough for home use.

Maxnet uses it's own IIG, as does TOT, and they are not the same!

So did anybody actually try to upgrade the ADSL to a international traffic, rather than national? Is it true what they promise or will the speed remain the same?
