The new exchange rates applicable to the fees and charges collected by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) came into effect from today (01/01/2009).

The new exchange rate is effectively 26 Thai Baht to the Australian Dollar.

The new visa application charge (VAC) for an offshore partner/prospective marriage visa lodged in Thailand is 36,900 THB, which is considerably less than the previous the 45,750 THB.

A tourist visa is now 2,600 THB down from 3,200 THB

It is however always advisable to check the exact amount prior to lodging your application. Also, applicants can still choose to pay the VAC in Australia (AUD$) if they like.
