Assuming you can meet the income requirements (40,000 Baht per month or 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank) you can get a 1 year extension based on your marriage.

If you are over 50 and can meet the income requirements (65,000 Baht per month or 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank) you can get a 1 year extension based on retirement.

Both just require reporting every 90 days, no need to leave the country. The plus with the marriage extension (which is somewhat more painful to obtain) is that you are able to get a work permit should you require one to earn the cash :o

You friend has a O-A Visa based on Retirement that he obtained in his own country. He has to report his address to Immigration every 90 days.

You can get a 12 month extension of stay based on your marriage . You need 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank OR 40,000 Baht a month income and a few other things. You will then not have to do border runs but will have to report to Immigration every 90 days the same as your friend.

You can get a one year extension based up marriage. See 2.18 of the police order for requirements.

When you apply you will need photos of you and the wife around the house plus a map to the hourse.

Copies of marriage certificae. Your passport photo page, entry/permit to stay stamp, TM6, wifes ID card and house book. And 2 photos. Your wife also has to go with you for an interview.

When you apply you will be given a stamp dated 30 days after the date you apply while the consider your application. In some cases they even pay a visit to your house during that period.
