The only visa I know that lets you stay in Thailand for a whole year without interruption is the non-OA visa, by some consulates called the long-stay visa and sometimes also referred to as the retirement visa. You have to be at least 50 years old to qualify, must apply for it at a Thai consulate in your home country, and meet certain requirements which the consulate will explain to you.

In order to get a work permit you have to form a company or work for another.

To form a company will requre legal assistance and various other costs.

You have not given us much iformation to answer your questions.

Your age would help because if over 50 you could get a retirement extension.

Would you mind going to school and learning Thai. If you don't mind spending 4 hours a week in class that is an option that would get you either 90 day or 1 year extensions.

If you have 1.5 million baht you could get a Thai Elite card that would get you a five year visa. Plus other perks that go with the card.
