FarangFatal Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Why does it appear I need two policies... and want to have bailment?
ThaivisaInsurance Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Why does it appear I need two policies... and want to have bailment? Sorry, may we ask you to explain ? TV Insurance
FarangFatal Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 The listing for different classes has different coverages..... One bailment and one not ec... Tell me which to chose and how that is the best. Would you offer a statement of guarantee on the response agent withing 20-30 min... NOT wanting to seem pissy but if I pay I want!
ThaivisaInsurance Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Ok, so from this can we take it you are talking about motor insurance – although am not sure about the train derailment ? The best vehicle cover is Class 1 which is ‘comprehensive’ cover and includes the Bailbond.
FarangFatal Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 Here is why I was confused: 1st Class : Comprehensive - Comprehensively covering the vehicle insured, life and injury of driver, passengers and third party property damage and liability. 2nd Class : Third Party Liability with Fire and Theft - Covering life and injury of driver, passengers and third party property damage and liability. PLUS a 200,000 Baht Bail Bond as well as theft and fire damage. 3rd Class : Third Party Liability - Covering life and injury of driver, passengers and third party property damage and liability. PLUS a 200,000 Baht Bail Bond. Not that no bailment is menstion in 1srt class etc. Also, can/would you address the second part of my question..... Service as to a rep arriving at the sceene of the accident to deal to act on my behalf? the would be a big consideration for me in chosing a borker in Pattaya. Who is the thai visa broker in Pattaya?

Thank you for the explanation. The 1st Class does indeed included the Bail bond – the only level of insurance not to is the CTPL. 20/30 mins is the usual time for the engineer/surveyor to attend the scene of the incident – less if in town maybe more if in the middle of nowhere. Please phone 038 415 795 for information on the Pattaya office.

Mike45 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I read recently about a guy that was involved in an accident in Thailand and the driver of the other vehicle died. The family is insisting on 14.5 million baht compensation. How do we protect ourselves from a claim for millions of baht? Surely our insurance will settle it for us....but his is doing nothing for him. They first offered 200k baht settlement and then lowered it to 100k. He has 1st class insurance with Liberty. He spent 2 days in jail and then had to bail himself out. I was sued in the USA for an accident. Other than being hand served the suit notification and giving it to my insurance company I had nothing else to do with it. I didn't think about it, didn't worry about it..... nothing. I found out two years later that they had settled for 3 million baht. Thats what I want in Thailand. Insurance and peace of mind that I have insured myself from a catastrophic lose.
