Qatar - 38,665 Baht Etihad - 41,370 Baht Thai - 48,220 Baht All Bangkok - London and economy promotions. Prices include all taxes. Seems steep to myself, last year I used an agent I know of in Nana and managed 36K Baht with Qatar when price of oil was at its highest. Also viewed some of those specialist sites - 'kayak' for example, not too impressed, the prices quoted for the likes of BA - Must go back, appreciate comments. Usually fly Etihad as I find these the cheapest, but would recommend trying a few agents. The current cheepest (booking via the Etihad website) indeed appears to be 29,720 Baht + 11,650 Baht taxes = 41,370 Baht. I'm hoping to get it down to about 35,000 by going through an agent. Booking LHR-BKK-LHR instead, yeilds a price (including taxes) of 404 pounds = approx 20,000 Baht. It might also be worth trying Air Asia from KL, as they had/have a very good promotional price, but last time I checked, seats were filling fast. I looked at the AirAsia flight but while it comes out at about 88,000Bt for 2 adults and achild for me, compared to Singapore at 108,000Bt, it doesn't start flying until March and I don't know how the reliability will be. Regarding reliability - I've flown loacally (within Asia) on AirAsia without any problems, however KL-LON-KL, being a new route for them, is anyones guess. I think that providing they don't cancel the service completely, all should be well. There's a good train service between Stanstead into London and I believe coach services from Stanstead to most locations in the UK. Also, I find Stanstead airport smaller, more efficient and less hassle than LHR. Regarding prices from agents being cheaper..... Thanks I think I've grasped that "one way from bkk" threw me, but now I see you mean fly to KL and then to London(Std) presumably paying with UK credit card so MYR not THB. londonthai Posted January 24, 2009 Share Posted January 24, 2009 flights from the UK are almost half price (from £400) than thailand (around 35k baht) this time round I am booking for my partner only one way from Bangkok with the BA (21k baht, available all winter/spring). in the near future I hope for the fares to fall below £400 on London Bangkok and we will be able to travel at least 2 times per year, instead of just one. Going down to Bangkok next week to pay for ticket and get the re-entry permit. I am a little old fashioned and do not like to use the web for payments having being a victim of fraud in the past! The agent I have used offered a Thai airways flight for 35,200 Baht, I was tempted but I do not mind changing flights in the middle east; -sort of breaks the journey up. You are unlucky, during the January sale Jan 1st-9th Etihad had return flights for 21,000 incl taxes. Special offers with Emirates, Qatar and Etihad pop up all the time on a first-come-first-served basis online. Here is a report from Airlinequality website from a disgruntled ECONOMY class passenger: Flight 121G/262G 29 October. Delayed departure due to bags not tallying with passengers. Chaotic transfers outward and return at Delhi. Delayed departure from Delhi. Case missing of one of party. Flight 263G/122G 14 November. Delayed departure, both legs. Given Immigration forms to complete on first leg which we didn't need to. No toilet rolls in one toilet. Roll holders in other toilet inadequate. Malfunction of sink plunger in both. No European food on offer in spite of menu stating there was a choice. Undrinkable Gin and Tonic. No checks done before landing in London with seat in front of me remaining in reclining position for landing. Economy class is supposed to be whack. I have always found her to get the cheapest prices on flights,hotels etc etc ..she is very friendly and helpful and i would reccommend you give her a call. Has anyone already booked a similary flight around this time? How much? Would anyone recommend a particular source - website or travel agency? I'm looking to fly ecconomy, return, 1 adult (me) and I've got no idea where to begin my search. I'm starting tonight, and looking at saveflights as that has been written about.
