.ssa Subtitles Problem

Featured Replies

Help!

I downloaded a .ssa file from thaisubtitle.com and added the .ssa file to the movie to give me Thai subtitles. There was no problem at all adding the original .ssa file to the movie, yet when I converted the movie the text was all 'greek' on playback (not Thai script).

I went back, followed the instructions to convert the .ssa file to Thai text and had no problem doing so. (saved the file in RTF format and have checked the new .ssa file and it is now in Thai script and ready to use).

Now I cannot add the converted subtitle file to the the movie as it says it is an unsupported or empty format. Definitely not empty though.

I am using convertXtoDVD.

Questions :-

Do I need to alter the converted .ssa file in some way to be able to add it to ConvertXtoDVD?

Can I change the extension to .??? to get it to work?

or is ther another, easy programme to use to burn the new .ssa file to the movie to give me subtitles in Thai?

Thanks for any help & guidance.

Try converting the subs to SubRip .srt format in Subtitle Workshop first.

Also ensure that within ConvertXtoDVD's options, Tahoma is selected as subtitle font.

Thanks Katana.

Somehow I got misled earlier and things failed time after time. I could not see the wood for the darn trees.

Now I am a happy man and busy converting with subtitles in Thai. Worth a few Brownie points with the g/f as we are able to snuggle up and watch more movies now :o
