Featured Replies

I know someone in CM in need of a good, English-sepaking AIDs specialists. Unfortunately all the ones I know are in Bangkok. Can anyone make a recommendation that I can pass on?

Thanks

Try a local private hospital first. Most of the doctors speak English and are more knowlegeable than we generally give them credit for. I guarantee most readers will be trully amazed at how common this disease is and how much exposure doctors in all provonces have with HIV positive patients.

If you want more then get to Bumrungrad in Bangkok and see any of the infectious disease doctors. See their web site.

Getting slightly off track I've had some good fiends (Thais) over the years with this disease and what amazes me is that people can have this for ten years before any major symptoms. What that means is that a good majority of people out there have no idea they or their partner are HIV positive.

Scenario is you meet a girl in the bar. Nice girl as most are but generally had a good number of sexual partners. You start to have unprotected sex if you have not done so already, get closer, marry her and life is fine.

All of a sudden one of you get a bit sick, go to the doctor and hey your both HIV positive.

I tell you I was a player for years. Luck and the grace of God I'm still ok. Once you've had a really good wake up call to the fact of how many times you can expose yourself to this disease and you hopefully will start to think with the big head.

I recommend everyone gets a HIV test regardless of who you are or what you do. 500 Baht. The last thing you want to do is make babies if you are or your partner are HIV positive. (not getting into the discussion about those who are HIV positive and get pregnant. It is another story)

I tell you when one of my friends told me she was HIV positive I was so concious about making contact of any sort with her. My ignorance. But then I think back of how I would happily stick my tongue into most places without even thinking about it.

Get a test, and I hope you are negative.
