Tourists Visa Rules

Can anyone tell me if the rules have changed. We live in Cyprus and come to Phuket 2 or 3 times a year, but our travel agent

mentioned that if you are coming for more than 14 days you now need a visa. We are coming for 16 day! Is this true or is it the normal

30 day entry stamp?

If you fly into the country - you get 30 days. If you cross the border overland or by sea, then you get 15 days.

the changes are made to avoid cheap backpackers travelling bordercrossings

I doubt that is the reason.

Also i just heard they stopped the visa's to thailand in penang
